(age 8) living in Grasshopper Falls, Kansas with her mother Mary (age 49), brother James (age 24), brother Robert (age 21), brother martin (age 16), sister Martha (age 11), and unknown Hugh Elliot (age 25). Mary is from Ireland and all the kids are listed as from Pennsylvania.

The 1870 Federal Census has Emma E. (age 18) living in Madison Township, Greenwood County, Kansas with her husband Isaac N. May (age 28). The only other information given was she listed both of her parents as foreign born.

The 1875 Kansas State Census has Emma E. living in Vienna located in Pottawatomie Kansas. She was 23 and living with her husband Isaac N. (age 33), and daughter Mary H. (age 3). May (age 13), son Joseph H. May (age 8), son Arba Porter May (age 6), and daughter Delia Ellen May (age 2). Her occupation was listed as housekeeper.

(age 53), son Joseph (age 19), son Arba (17), and daughter Delia (age 12) (the census has Delia listed as Emma, possibly a middle name or just an error).

The 1900 Federal Census has Emma E. living in Lincoln Township located in Pottawatomie Kansas. She was 48 had been married to her husband Isaac N. for 31 years. They had six children, of which three were still living. The Census indicated that both his parents were from Pennsylvania. His occupation was as a farmer. Both she and Isaac could read and write English. They owned their own farm and it was schedule 56.
